Swot analysis involves analysing an organisation and its environment, to focus on its strengths and weaknesses, opportunities and threats.
both strengths and weaknesses are considered to be internal factors within any organisation. That is to say that they are relatively easy to control internally by the organisation.
Opportunities and threats are considered to be external factors that are dictated by the market and will need more work to be controlled by the organisation.
There are literally hundreds of strengths that your organisation may have, and some of them may include:
Your brand and heritage.
Your trademarks and patents.
Your location.
Your skills and experience.
As with strengths, there may also be hundreds of weaknesses in your organisation, including:
Lack of market knowledge.
Lack of skills and training
Poor quality products or services.
Opportunity generally come from external factors within the marketplace and could include:
Technological breakthroughs.
New markets opening up.
Competitors closing down
